Cycling

This picture for me shows the true strength and happiness of my dear friend Jim Digby. When I was living in Brantford in the 1970s, I was encouraged by new friends to start bicycling. There was a small group of delightful fellows who would cycle around the lovely areas there. Jim was one of the founders of this group along with our fearless leaded, Don McIntyre. We called ourselves The Brantford Weathercocks. Over the years we began to take long trips each summer in Canada and abroad. This was one of our early trips, two weeks cycling down the Blue Ridge Parkway, a National Parks non commercial road, 600 miles down the top of the Appalachian Mountains from Northern Virginia to the Northwest corner of North Carolina. Between Don and Jim is Norman Roy Mesaglio, also a doctor, and I am on the left side. Jim’s happiness, and strength, and charming good humor, expressed in this picture, made him one of the most fun, enlightening, entertaining, and inspirational founders of this powerful, and for me life changing, groups of not just friends, but family. I know that Jim is now happily cycling in heaven with all sorts of angles and friends, and companions. My blessing and condolences to all of Jim’s loving family.  James Coker
