Allan  Baker

Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Lifecare on Friday, March 3rd, 2017 at the age of 85 years. Beloved husband of the late Mary Baker (2011) for 63 years. Loving father of Kathryn Poirier (Brian), Michael (Catherine) Baker, Barb (Gord) Ryerse and MaryAnne (Nelson) DaCosta. Proud grandfather of Chris Poirier (Becky), Kerin (James) McVey, Dan Baker (Keia), Chris (Lisa) Baker, Josh DaCosta, Danielle DaCosta and Dylan Ryerse. Cherished great-grandfather of Tyla, Tessa, Sofia, Fox, Marley, Dayna, Ireland and Jax. Dear brother of Loreen (the late Bob) Janes, the late Mary Jane (the late Don) Shepherd, the late Mavis (Jim) Allan and Anne (the late Sam) Minns. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Allan joined MAAC in 1949, and was a life long member, #354. As such, he proudly represented Canada in many competitions around the world. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Allan’s “adopted daughter” Nurse Michelle Halstead. Additional thanks to the staff (especially “the gigglers”) at St. Joseph’s Lifecare on Chestnut Court for their compassion and care, as well as Dr. Hadley. The family will receive friends at the DENNIS TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford on Monday, March 6th, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Allan’s Life will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Donations in memory of Allan can be made to the Model Aeronautics Association of Canada – Bursary Fund.
