Condolence: Very sorry to hear of Rob's passing. After working w Rob on Lake Erie in the 80's/90's we went our separate ways. Life's special relationships last regardless of space/ time separation; Rob was one of these special ones.

A true servant leader wouldn't ask you to do anything he wouldn't do himself. When political urgencies arose, we worked until the job was done regardless of the circumstances, ..Rob brought the best out of his people.

Rest in peace my friend. Your calm reassuring smile is forever etched in my memory. Till we meet again. God Bless and thank you.

Condolence: Dear Pam,family and friends,
It is with saddened heart that I became aware of Rob's passing. I had the distinct pleasure of working with Rob, both in Lake Erie and Cambridge District. Rob was admired as a great aquatic scientist, strongly dedicated to protecting and managing the fishery resources of Ontario. He always gave 100% plus to his career and family. I know he'll be greatly missed by many. My personal condolences.

Condolence: My deepest condolences (on behalf of both my personal relationship with Rob and Plenty Canada an Indigenous NGO that worked extensively with Rob on the recovery of the American Eel) to Rob's family whom he spoke often of. I wish I could be there but we are visiting family and we all know that at this stage of our lives each visit may be the last with older family members.

I have several fond memories of Rob that I would have loved to share today (January 7, 2017) and I hope there is another opportunity. Rob led both the Canadian and Ontario Ameircan Eel Recovery strategies. The Ontario strategy was the most extensive and difficult. First, Rob respected both Indigenous traditional knowledge and western science streams of knowledge. He took to heart the need to understand Indigenous culture and took time to listen to Algonquin Elder William Commanda and Mississauga Ojibway Elder Murray Whetung who both encouraged us to all work together. Rob suffered the profane and disrespectful attitude of a few colleagues such as those from Ontario Hydro who attempted to undermine our collective work to save this ancient fish by trashing Indigenous knowledge systems. But, we remained steadfast under Rob's leadership in our cross-cultural commitment to the Eel, healthy aquatic ecosystems, future generations of all peoples, and to the continuation of life itself. When I think of reconciliation between peoples I also think of reconciliation with Mother Earth and our commitment to the continuation of life expressed in our three figured wampum belt. The Belt signified the agreement our French, English and Indigenous ancestors made to living on this earth within the limits of natural law or not taking more than Mother Earth can give. Rob courageously defended that principle. He also agreed to open and close all of our meetings with ceremonies designed to connect our hearts to our minds. Rob with great strength understood both the need for doing that and how to do that.

I paddled Lake Timiscamange with him and we tried to hook up Plenty Canada with the Peterborough Trauma Centre. Sadly his hard work is just coming to the next stage as the province convenes meetings to look at the needs of the American Eel. I will work hard to carry on Rob's vision and forever be grateful of his gifts for honouring life itself.

May your spirit fly in peace my brother.

Chi miigwetch.

Love,
Larry

Condolence: Rob was a good friend. When we cycled he always made it fun and challenging. Rob would cycle in almost any weather. Reaching 100 km in one day was a goal he set and met. He encouraged me to push myself and always go that extra bit on the trails. Stopping for fries and beer at the midway point was always a treat.

Rob was generous, kind and spoke highly of his boys. He also loved his pups Lach and Magy.

I'll miss his smile, laugh and easy going attitude.

Condolence: It was a terrible shock to hear of Robs unexpected passing. He was always happiest amongst the water and trees.
Rob gave a lot of himself in helping his father through difficult times. His devotion to dad's wishes will be remembered.
I have fond memories of Rob working out on the lake tagging muskies years ago.
May your spirit wander free and in peace.

Condolence: My sympathy to Pam and family.

I had the good fortune to work with Rob for many years. Rob was respected as a biologist and a resource manager. I share that respect but more importantly, I will remember him as a very good person and a friend.
