Obituary for Giuseppe Domenicone

DOMENICONE, Giuseppe - Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Lifecare Centre on June 20th, 2016, in his 94th year. Predeceased by his beloved wife and lifelong companion Albina Domenicone. Loving father to Carmela (Battista) Tavernese and Lou Domenicone (Tania). Devoted grandfather of Luigi (Marcia), Luca, and Claudia Tavernese. Loving great-grandfather to Massimo and Ottavia. Survived by his brothers Guerino (Teresa), Emilio (Ida), Vincenzo, and predeceased by his brother Antonio. Brother-in-law to Annunziata (Rafaele) Modesti, Antonietta (the late Antonio) Consorti, Giustino Mattarelli, and Giovanni Liberati (and the late Adele). Uncle to Tony Modesti, Annette MacKinnon, Elsa (Ezio) Notarandrea, Peter Liberati, Tina (Deo) DeDomenicis, Fabrizio (Olga) Consorti, Lynda and the late Tony Consorti, and numerous nieces and nephews in Italy. Giuseppe was a special person who immigrated to Canada from Arsita, Italy, in order to raise his young family and begin a new life. To those who knew him, he was an easygoing gentleman who spent the fullness of his days cheerful and content. He had a youthful disposition and greeted everyone with a warm smile and a kind heart. He was always positive in his outlook on life and was never short in seeing the humour in situations. He loved working in his garden and was always there to lend a hand to his family and friends. Much like his wife Albina, his absence will be felt daily in ways too numerous to count. The love and strength he gave us was enough to surely last a lifetime. We will always miss him. Thank you to the friends, neighbours, and extended family who supported him and us, especially in the last days. Thanks also to the staff of the St. Joseph’s Lifecare Centre whose professional attention and tender care will always be remembered. In particular we would like to thank: Sherry, Jen, Angela, Christine, Karen, Laurie, Diana, Robin, Carly, Joanne, Dr. Hadley and Dr. Ho. A special thanks to his roommate Robert Cooper who will always be appreciated for being a good friend. Family and friends will be received at the DENNIS TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, 9 Waverly Street, Brantford on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the St. Joseph’s Lifecare Foundation would be gratefully appreciated. www.dennistoll.ca
