Obituary for Linda Rickwood

On August 7th, 2021, loving wife, mother and grandmother Linda Rickwood, 59, of Brantford, Ontario, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side after a lengthy battle with cancer. Linda is survived by beloved husband, Michael, daughters, Katie, Taylor, Torri and Emily, two grandchildren, Peyton and Landon, siblings Patti, Tim, Arlene, David, Robert Jr. and Susan, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Her death was preceded by mother, Donna Keating and father, Robert Wallace. Linda was born in Galt, Ontario in 1961. She attended Southwood Secondary School, where she made lifelong friends. At the age of 18 Linda began working at the John Noble Home, and continued working there for the next 41 years. The John Noble Home was like a second home to Linda, and her colleagues a second family, to whom she was known as Linda Lou. Linda had a passion for cooking and trying new recipes and was at her happiest when hosting others and bringing people together. She was a truly selfless person. When she wasn’t hosting a gathering, family reunion or surprise party for others, she could be found in the bowling alley supporting and cheering her daughters on. She later joined a ten-pin bowling league herself. Every summer Linda found peace and joy at her family's usual camping spot at the Pinery Provincial Park in Grand Bend, where she enjoyed playing card games and sitting around the campfire into the night. A sign of her strength, sense of adventure and calming nature, Linda was captivated by lightning storms, often turning off all the house lights to sit and watch the sky light up. Linda and the family would like to thank the Stedman Outreach team for the support they provided, enabling her to live with dignity and comfort until the end. A Memorial Service will be held, but in person attendance is limited to invitation only. The Service will be live streamed on Monday, August 16, 2021 at 11:00 am and can be accessed at www.tollfh.ca. A celebration of life will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, www.cancer.ca.
