Margaret-Ann Arnold (nee McCarthy)
June 13, 1958 – May 25, 2021
Margaret-Ann Arnold, known to friends as “Maggie”, of Brantford, Ontario died peacefully on May 25th at Stedman Community Hospice after a fifteen year battle with breast cancer at the age of 62.
Maggie was born in Brockville, Ontario but grew up outside of Kingston, Ontario in the small village of Glenburnie. Maggie moved to Toronto in 1976, after graduating from KCVI, to attend Ryerson University where she graduated with a degree in fashion management. Upon graduation, she enrolled in a CEDESCO accredited college, the Lam School of Cosmetics and Massage Therapy, and embarked on what became her lifelong passion and career in aesthetics.
In 1985, Maggie returned to Kingston and opened her own aesthetics business, Professional Skin and Hair. It was during this period of time that Maggie met the love of her life, Alan Arnold. Married in 1998, Maggie and Al lived at various times in Kingston and Toronto before finally moving to Brantford, Ontario in 2018 with, what she affectionately called her “fur babies”, Kenworth and Daisy Grace, two adorable German Shepherd dogs. Throughout her life Maggie displayed a zest for life that was punctuated by wit and a wonderful sense of humour.
Maggie is survived by her husband Al, her mother Margaret McCarthy, her father Merle McCarthy and her brother Murray McCarthy. She is predeceased by her brother, Robert John McCarthy of Wilton, Ontario. She is fondly remembered by her niece and nephews Sarah, Christopher, David and Kevin and her sisters in law, Ruth Cairns of Kingston and Martha Asselin of Toronto.
A small family celebration of Maggie’s life will take place at her home in Brantford at a later date. A special thanks goes out to the professional staff at Princess Margaret Hospital, especially, Dr. David Warr and Dr. Kumar Vikash for their expertise and compassion over the past 15 years. In addition, the family recognizes the extraordinary care provided by the provided by the staff at Stedman Community Hospice and the spiritual care of The Reverend Paul Silcox and the entire congregation at Grace Anglican Church in Brantford.
