Obituary for Joan Dickson

Sad, because her time with us has ended, but overjoyed that she has been united with our Lord and Creator, we are announcing the passing of Joan. Wife for 64 years to beloved husband and best friend Ken, Mom to Leslie (Joe) and Blake (Mara), big sister to Al McCleary (Val), Grandma to Chris, Jace, Erin, Brynlea, and Graydon, (as well as her granddogs LaFawnduh and Cali), and Aunt Joan to all her wonderful nieces and nephews. Joan passed at home while sleeping in her husband’s arms, just the way she would have wanted it. We now celebrate the life of a great lady who we will miss dearly, but are relieved she is no longer suffering and in pain. Joan led her life based in faith, family, and love. Joan’s legacy of strong conviction, loving unconditionally, demonstrating compassion for those in difficulty, and encouraging all those she has met, we will use to give us strength and guidance, but it is her warm hugs and captivating smile we will miss most. Her many loving friends and family will remember her for her beautiful smile and her caring, welcoming attitude. Joan loved music, having played for many years with the Queensway Bell Ringers, and she looked forward to sharing time at the cottage with friends and her adored family. Joan will live forever in our hearts and memories. Special thanks to Dr Singh and Lara from the Stedman Community Hospice Outreach Team and to Kim and her team of nursing staff for their kind, compassionate care. Due to COVID Protocols the family will be conducting a private service. They look forward to celebrating Joan’s life and memories with her many friends as time and circumstances permit. Arrangements entrusted to TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford, where an interactive Book of Memories for relaying your thoughts about Joan, is accessible online. In lieu of flowers, the family would be honoured if you would make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.
