ZIMON, Elizabeth “Betty” - It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Betty Zimon, on May 5, 2021, in her 91st year, at the John Noble Home. Betty is predeceased by her loving husband, Joe, and stepson, John. Cherished mother of Donna (Al), Marlene (Jeff) and Jody (Stéphane) and stepmother of Carol (John) and Jim (Tim).
Beloved Grandma and Nana to Marissa, Kyle, Christine (Luke), Michelle (Tyler), Heather, Keenan, Emilie, Kaïla, Mark (Sam), Kevin (Tammy), Brent (Shannon) and Amie and 8 great-grandchildren. Betty is also survived by her sister-in-law, Phyllis Iacovino and her daughter-in-law Fran.
Betty was born in Nyanza and was so proud of her Cape Breton heritage. She enjoyed working, including her first administrative position with the RCMP, and being a manager at the credit union. Betty was a long-time member of Harmony United Church and enjoyed playing crib and euchre. She always had a sweet treat available, with a cup of tea, if someone was coming over and made sure that you saved room for dessert. Bedtime snacks at Grandma’s were hard to beat!
A very special thank you to all the staff, caregivers and nurses on Davis Court. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private, family service will take place. Arrangements entrusted to the TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street. In lieu of flowers, donations to Harmony United Church or the John Noble Home would be appreciated. Memories of Betty are encouraged to be shared on this website.
