Obituary

Kathy Clyne, 61, passed peacefully surrounded by her family at home on April 27, 2021. She is survived by her lifelong partner and husband Kenneth, sons Benjamin (Nikki, loved grandkids William and Maddie) and Daniel, siblings Kim (Brad, nieces Alex and Sarah) Brian (Julia) and Rick (Tish) and predeceased by her parents, Bill and Joyce Hunter and her sister in law Patricia (niece Natasha). She will be dearly missed by her close friends Pat, Heather, Carol and Karen.

Kathy’s dynamic personality and unforgettable laugh were contagious and she spent a life spreading joy and love to all she met. Born in Brantford, she made lifelong friends along the way in Oakville. Kathy met Ken at Pearson International Airport, falling in love and getting married. A few years after the birth of their children, Daniel and Benjamin, the family moved to Brantford for a quieter family life. She spent 20 years helping customers, friends and family at Mom’s Variety and loved her regular customers. She will be missed by the community around the store and especially by her friend Marlene. Kathy spent her life caring for others and was a Mom and friend to so many more than just her family.

Endless thanks and love to the nurses and doctors at Juravinski Hospital, Brantford General and Bayshore Healthcare. Your caring support was deeply appreciated by Kathy and her family.

Ooh maybe tomorrow
I'll find find my way
To the land where the honey runs
In rivers each day
And the sweet tastin' good life
Is so easily found
A way over yonder
That's where I'm bound
-Carole King

Cremation is planned, with a celebration of life to follow once conditions allow us to be together. Donations to Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre Foundation, Brantford General Hospital or the Canadian Multiple Sclerosis Society are appreciated.

To Kenny, Dan and Ben- There is so much sadness in our hearts today as we hear of the loss of Kathy. There was a time when you were like our second family and to this day we know that if we asked, you would do anything and be there for us. After moving to Brantford at the same time in 1992, we shared so many good times together. Kathy wasn’t just a babysitter. We trusted her to care for our kids like they were her own. We went backyard skating, baseball, Cubs, neighbourhood Labour Day parties, Brier Park funfairs and craft sales. Our families shared birthday parties, Christmas Eve open house and even celebrated the Millennial New Year. If we were in our backyard we always knew when Kathy was outside by the infectious laughter we could hear. As time went on and our lives went different directions, we were not as close, but we still feel the loss of a good friend. Please know that we are thinking of all of you and pray that your special memories of her will help heal your grief.

We are so sorry to hear about the loss of Kathy. What a beautiful soul you have lost from your family. We will always treasure our time as your neighbours but most of all for the love and care that Kathy (actually entire family) that you gave to Emma. Kathy's laughter was contagious! Dear Kenny, Daniel and Benjamin,

We were so sadden to hear of Kathy's passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you always.

I first met Kathy in 2013 at Mom's Variety and I loved her immediately!

She had that love for life and people came from all over to bask in it ♥️

She called everyone sweet names like Honey, Darlin' or Sugar (my favourite!).

If you came into the store a little blue you always left in a happier frame of mind. Kathy had that effect on people and we're missing her so much.

Her legacy will live on whenever we lift another up.

Melissa and Derek Meenagh
