Obituary for Marguerita "Reta" Unger

It is the greatest sadness that the family of Marguerita (Reta) Elizabeth Unger announces her very sudden and peaceful passing in the early hours of Thursday, April 29, 2021. Born in 1934, she is predeceased by her father Fred Unger and her mother Maude Unger (nee Campion). She is survived by her cousin Mary Alice (Burt) Wehrle, by Mary’s son, Eric Matthew, and Mary’s family, as well as cousins in the Unger and Campion families. Reta was a primary school teacher, who taught for 35 years at Prince Charles Public School, retiring in 1991. Refusing to actually retire from her passion of teaching, she continued to volunteer for several years at Brier Park Public School. Her greatest love was to help little ones learn to read, and to help other teachers in any way she could. She was a member of St. Andrews United Church in Brantford, and took great pleasure in helping out in support roles for the church. Her kindness, generosity and friendship will be missed by all who knew her. Arrangements have been entrusted to Toll Funeral Home, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, attendance at the funeral service is private. However, the service will be live streamed on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 12pm. To view the service click the “photos and videos” tab and then scroll down and click the arrow next to “watch webcast”. Reta will be interred in Mount Hope Cemetery. To honour her memory, in lieu of flowers, donations either to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to St. Andrews United Church would be appreciated. Messages of condolence may be left at www.tollfh.ca
