Obituary for Betty-Lou Stam

With her husband Ted by her side, it is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Betty-Lou Stam (nee Stanton). She passed away peacefully during the early afternoon on March 23, 2021 at the Brantford General Hospital in her 72nd year, just days short of her birthday. Predeceased by her parents Alice Frances and Albert Victor Stanton, sister, Edith Fraser (Stanton) and brother, Edward Victor Stanton as well as brothers-in-law John Stam and Robert Dunham. Betty is survived by her husband Jacob Theodorus (Ted) Stam who were in their 45th year of marriage, sisters-in-law Martha (Stam) Dunham (Robert – deceased) and Ria (Stam) Heeringa (Jerry) and brother-in-law Eric (Arie) Stam. She will be truly missed by her nephews, nieces and cousins in Canada, the U.S.A and in Holland. Betty loved her parents dearly as well as her brother and sister. She is now reunited with them in Heaven. She had a great love for all of her fur babies over the years of marriage. They were a true blessing in her life. Betty began her working career at KeepRite Inc. in the financial (accounting) department and was employed there for more than 20 years. She made many friends during that time and met Ted there. Ted happened to work in the Engineering department. Upon leaving the company, one of Betty’s wonderful passions was that of gardening. Roses were the name of the game as she nurtured more than 40 rose plants. When patients from St. Joseph’s hospital walked or wheelchaired by, a rose would be offered to them. Another passion was her love for clothes. Everything would have to match and be properly accessorized. Betty was well known at various ladies shops in the city. Our vacation times were mainly spent in the Southampton area of Ontario. We were fortunate to be able to rent a beautiful cottage close to the beach. Our time there would be either at the beach, day trips in the area, looking in clothing shops and enjoying all of the different food establishments. No cooking was being done during that time period. We loved the Southampton sunsets. The last 13 months have been a difficult time for the family as Betty was hospitalized at the Brantford General Hospital with a breathing disorder. She was on the CCU floor during that time. The care that she received by the medical staff: nurses, doctors, respiratory technicians, physio technicians and many others was truly outstanding. We were very blessed to have been associated with these outstanding professionals. These are our true Angels. A sincere thank you to each one of you. God bless you all for your support. Friends will be received at the Toll Funeral Home at 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford, Ontario on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 from 6pm to 8pm. Registration is necessary prior to attendance. Please register on the funeral home website by clicking the RSVP button located under “Service Details” on Betty-Lou’s page.
