Obituary for William John Pettigrew

It is with great sorrow we announce that William John Pettigrew passed away peacefully in his sleep while receiving hospital care in Hamilton, ON, on January 21, 2021 at age 87. John is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Eileen May (nee Clark); and his children, Sharon, Brenda (Rob), Bob, Debra (Jeff), Michael, and Douglas (Tina). He is predeceased by his brothers Victor and Paul. John was a devoted grandfather to 9 grandchildren: John, Rob, Chris, Shannon (CJ), Shawn, Stephanie (Evan), Nicholas, and Amanda. He is predeceased by his grandson Sandy. John was great-grandfather to Noah, JJ, and Edwin. John was born in a farmhouse in Neustadt on August 26, 1933 to Ismay and Jack Pettigrew. He spent 40 years working for the Canadian National Railway. He spent many happy summers at his family cottage in Sauble Beach. He never missed an occasion to gather and celebrate with family. John loved animals and had a lifelong passion for pigeon-keeping. He was a light-hearted, caring man who always had a story to share, and will be deeply missed by friends and loved ones. Due to the pandemic the service will be private.
