Obituary for Diana Patricia "Pat" Allsopp

It is with great sorrow that the family of Diana Patricia “Pat” Allsopp (nee Sutherland) announces her passing on January 15, 2021, in Brantford, ON. Pat was born on July 8, 1940 in Fredericton, N.B. to Art and Irene Sutherland and is survived by her sister Barbara Sutherland (Brantford, ON) and her son Tim (Penny) Allsopp (Calgary, AB). She was the loving grandmother of Dustin, Brian (Chelsea) and David Allsopp and loving aunt to Erin McIntyre (Jamie Stephens) and great-aunt to Addison Martin. Pat was married to Gary Allsopp (Calgary). During Pat’s life, she served for four years with the Canadian Armed Forces/Canadian Air Force. She and her family moved to Calgary in 1977 where Pat was an active member of Thornhill Baptist Church for many years and volunteered in the community at special events and was a teaching assistant at the nearby public school. When Pat moved to Waterdown, ON in 2010, she was an active member of the Knox Presbyterian Church and had many friends in the community. She enjoyed knitting, needle-point, outdoor activities, travelling and took special interest in the mountains and nature areas. Pat also played the piano and organ and enjoyed music of various genres. Pat always held her family close to her heart and even through her most difficult times, they were always in her thoughts. The presence of COVID in our communities increased her loneliness from absence of visitors while she struggled with other health issues. We cannot adequately express our gratitude for the nurses, doctors, paramedics and all front-line staff, especially those who cared for Pat at the Riverview Terrace Retirement Home (Brantford, ON), Brantford General Hospital, Maple Lodge Retirement Home (Simcoe, ON) and Norfolk General Hospital (Simcoe, ON). She was in the care and presence of everyday angels. Pat was very loved by family and many friends and will be greatly missed. A private service was held on January 16, 2021 in Brantford.
