Obituary for Gerald "Jerry" Small

SMALL, Gerald “Jerry” - with sadness, we announce the passing of Jerry Small (1950 – 2021) on the evening of January 4th, 2021; a man remembered for his contentment and joy even as lifelong illnesses took hold. Loving father to Katrina and Alexandra. Grandfather of Adelaide. Dear brother of Jennie, Lesley, Lucille and Bill. Special uncle to Eva, Joe, Sarah, Bob, David, Heather, Lisa, Tanya, Mike, Rob and Danielle. Jerry was 13 when he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and yet he lived a full and hardworking life until the onset of dementia in his 50s. Having worked 28 years at Hussmann’s, and giving life and home to two daughters, he retired into a cheerful, quiet man who warmed the hearts of all who knew him. As Jerry released control of his health, he taught many how to enjoy life with less. His cheerful smile, enthusiastic clapping, and deep love of music will be fondly remembered. Jerry’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff and residents of Hardy Terrace. If you have fond memories of Jerry, please contribute to the online comment section for his family to reflect upon; this will serve as the memorial. He will be laid to rest beside his parents William and Lucy Small at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Please direct any acts of kindness in Jerry’s memory to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. https://mssociety.ca/
