Peacefully at the age of 77 years, John finished his journey at St. Joseph’s Lifecare on Sunday, September 27, 2020 after a long battle with dementia and related illness. Husband of Teresa for over 55 years, forever loved father of Corinna and Tim. Cherished grandfather of Jade and Troy Miles. Much loved brother of Patsy (Dean) Braund and brother-in-law Eugene Koperski. Dearly missed by nephews Jason and Mark Virtue, Evan Braund, niece Alanah Braund and great-nephew Braeden Virtue. He will also be sadly missed by many cousins and friends. John will join in heaven his parents Fedora Choc and Joseph Poye, and sister Lena (Poye) Virtue. A self taught brilliant man who could fix it all – he started his career as an electrician then an employee of S.C. Johnson for over 25 years, where he honed his skills to become an engineer. John loved the outdoors, spent a lot of time with family and friends at his cottage in Long Point, fishing and boating. John also loved to golf and curl. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the nurses and caregivers at St. Joe’s Lifecare, who looked after John so well during his 5 year stay. Due to COVID-19, a private family service will be held. A Celebration of life to take place in 2021. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Joseph’s Lifecare, the Dementia Society or the Alzheimer Society of Brant.
