It is with heavy hearts that we share the peaceful passing of our dear John. He fought with such strength and determination. Cherished husband and best friend for 50 years of Jill. Loving father of Jeff (Sheri) and Johanna (Mike). Treasured grandpa of Devon, Reagan, Jackson and Matthew. Dear brother-in-law of Bert & Judi Shrubsole and special uncle of Jennifer, Martha, Jonathon & Sara. Predeceased by his parents, Ken & Aileen Coles. John loved his family and was the happiest when they were all together. He also loved a good social gathering and will be missed by so many wonderful friends in Brantford as well as at the cottage. John attended Pauline Johnson Collegiate and was a true sports lover. He will be remembered by many as a golfer, skier, basketball player and coach with Briers Basketball. John was also an avid curler having belonged to the Paris Curling Club, the Brant Curling Club and for 40 years the Brantford Golf & Country Club. John was Past President of The Rotary Club of Brantford Sunrise and also Past President of the ICURFR Rotary World Curling which took him to many cities in Canada, the USA, and the United Kingdom and formed numerous lasting friendships as a result. John was also a Past Director on the Board at the Brantford Golf & Country Club. John loved to travel and he and Jill had the good fortune to explore many parts of the world prior to his illness. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, we request donations be made to The Kidney Foundation, St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton, Brant Dialysis or The Rotary Club of Brantford Sunrise.
