Passed away after a brief illness at the Brantford General Hospital on Monday, July 20, 2020 at the age of 74. Beloved husband of Dianne (nee Sweett) for 49 years. Loving father of Anne (Nathan) Cowan and Paul (Barbara) Davidson. Proud grandfather of Brynlea, William, Sloane and Mila. Dear brother of Arlene Norris and Sandra Davidson. Much loved brother-in-law of Blair Norris and Mike Sweett. Beloved uncle of many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Agnes and William Davidson. Jim loved, watched, participated in and coached many different sports throughout his life. He was very involved with hockey and baseball in Brantford, as well as golf at the Northridge Golf Course. He was an educator for Grand Erie District School Board for 32 years, teaching at both Paris District High school for 25 years and Brantford Collegiate Institute for 7 years. You could often find him at Benmar during classic car night chatting and admiring the cars, looking for deals at area garage sales, or walking the trails with his beloved dogs. Special thank you to first responders, and the staff in the CCU at Brantford General Hospital, particularly Wendy who took such great care of Jim. Family and friends will be received for Memorial Visitation at the TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford on Monday, July 27, 2020 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Private family service will be held at a later date. Please be advised be that masks or face coverings are mandatory and social distancing protocols will be in place. Donations in memory of Jim can be made to the charity of your choice.

Dianne and family. We are saddened to hear of Jim’s passing. He was my hockey coach as a young boy and it was great to be able to share memories from that time and stories of West Brant with him when we worked together at PDHS in later years. Brenda and I always enjoyed our conversations with Jim at North Ward staff parties. He was a wonderful gentleman who truly cared about everyone he encountered in life.

Jim is fondly remembered as a thoughtful participant in our lunchroom discussions at PDHS over many years.
He had an amazing ability of recall. He remembered details of students he had taught years before, and also kept close track of them after they left PDHS. Jim was always focused on students as real people with real lives. Our condolences to his family
and many friends. J. Stutley

Condolences to the family. Mr Davidson taught me in Paris in early to mid 80’s. He was a great mentor, councillor, coach and human being. I learned so much and he had great patience with me. So sorry for your loss. I have great memories of him. Be well❤️

We were shocked and saddened by the news of Jim’s passing. I have fond memories of seeing and talking to Jim at the Gretzky Centre as well as watching hockey games at various arenas with Jim and Stan. He was a fine man and an asset to the teaching profession as well as to coaching various sports. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Dianne, Paul and Ann.
