Obituary for John Macklin Minion "Mac" Gordon

John Macklin Minion Gordon
Gordon, John “Mac” Gordon - June 2, 1919 - June 24, 2020 passed away peacefully in his sleep after 101 years of a life well lived. Mac was born in Box Grove, Ontario to Amelia and William Gordon. He spent his early years on the family farm in Holland Centre, with his younger siblings Elvin, Ann and Ralph. The family moved to Burk’s Falls where they enjoyed hunting and fishing trips. He left the farm during the depression to support the family, working in lumber camps and farms. He was an airplane mechanic in the RCAF during WWII. After that he spent years as an accountant in mining camps, ending up as an accountant for Cockshutt Farm Equipment (later White) in Edmonton and Brantford. Mac also worked for Versatile Farm Equipment in Winnipeg after retiring from White Farm Equipment. Mac was involved in many church activities throughout his life, always singing in church choirs. He spent many years singing in a Barbershop Chorus and was singing with the Golden Horseshoe Chorus until 2018. After his retirement Mac enjoyed senior’s curling in Brantford and was proud of skipping his teams. Mac leaves to mourn his daughters Joan (Harvey) Valgardson; Doris Gordon; Heather (Mike) Dempsey ; grandchildren Tammy, Dustin, Jennifer and Chris; and two great grandsons and partner, Jean Bohatkiewicz and her children Halina, Ashley and Sheri.. Mac was predeceased by Helen Gordon, his wife of 54 years; his parents Amelia and William; his siblings Elvin, Ralph and Ann. The family will be holding a private funeral service at this time.
