STAVRIANOS, Timoleon – Born on November 15, 1938, in Sifnos, Greece, youngest son of the late Stavros and Kyriaki Stavrianos. Passed away peacefully in his 82nd year surrounded by his loving family at the Stedman Community Hospice on Saturday, February 15, 2020. Beloved husband of Vicky for over 49 years. Much loved father of Stavros and Angelina, John and Dawn, and the late Maria Stavrianos. Proud Papou to his adored grandchildren Francesco, Nicholas and Athena. Dear brother of George and his wife Pat Stavrianos. Predeceased by his siblings Apostolo, Yanni, Irini, Maria and Kaliopi, all of Greece. Chef Tim began his career at age 13 as an apprentice to the private chef of one of Greece's most prestigious families. He traveled the world for 13 years perfecting his craft and gaining experience. Through his mandatory army term, he prepared and served special dinners to honour the marriage of their King Constantine and also for NATO officers in Greece. In 1969, Tim boarded the private yacht of Stavros Niarchos, the brother-in-law of the world's wealthiest man at the time Aristotle Onassis, and served as his private chef as well as the head chef of his global fleet of oil tankers. During this time he spent much beloved years in Yokohama, Japan and Rotterdam, Holland. He brought his family to Canada in 1973, and in 1979 he opened his restaurant Zorba’s in Brantford, Ontario. He worked in his own kitchen to offer his many friends his personal touch and to share his skill and passion of cooking. He will be greatly missed and remembered for his kind nature and generosity. Special thanks to the staff of Sunnybrook Hospital, especially Dr. D. Enepekides, and to the Stedman Community Hospice, for their kind and professional care. Family and friends are invited to the DENNIS TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford on Thursday, February 20th from 4-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 22 Head Street, Hamilton on Friday, February 21st at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Woodland Cemetery in Burlington.
