Obituary for Cornelia "Corry" Van Fleet

Corry passed away peacefully on Monday, November 18, 2019 at the Brantford General Hospital comforted by her family in her 76th year. Beloved wife of Ralph for 47 years. Loving mother of Duane (Carolyn) of St. Mary's and Darren (Jess) of St. George. Loving and cherished Oma of Mackenna, Carson, Bryton, Tucker and Walker. Loving sister of Maartje Bouman (Holland). Loving sister-in-law of Marjorie and the Late Wesley Johnson, Bernice and the Late George Wisson, Dave and Shirley Van Fleet. Predeceased by sister Jannetje (Joan), Cornelis (Kase) Van Arkel, brother Reyer (Maryke) Van Triest, brother Barend (Cock) Van Triest and brother-in-law Fred Van Fleet. Loved by many nieces and nephews in Holland, Brantford and St. Marys and many dear friends. Corry was born in Holland to Reyer and Maartje Van Triest. She became a Registered Nurse and moved to St. Mary's, Ontario to live with her sister Joan. She worked at the Stratford General Hospital where she met her dear friend Donna Hurst. Donna set off to nurse in Collingwood and Corry went to nurse in Huntsville. While up north, Corry learned to ski and later tried to teach Ralph and that began their love story. She relocated to the Brantford area where she and Ralph married and raised their two boys. She worked in the Operating Room at the Willett Hospital in Paris until it closed and then moved into the Urgent Care Unit until she retired. She enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, Alaska and the Caribbean. Loved to host family and friends in her home. And absolutely LOVED her grandchildren. Family and friends will be received at the TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross St., Brantford on Sunday, November 24, 2019 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the Toll Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, November 25, 2019 at 11am. The family would appreciate donations to the Juravinski Hospital in memory of Corry.
