Obituary for Barbara Ann Constance Kisiel- Pennell

KISIEL-PENNELL, Barbara A.C (Babs)

August 23rd, 1953 – November 09, 2019

Peacefully, after a lengthy fight with illness at the Brantford General Hospital, on November 09, 2019, Barbara A.C Kisiel, passed away in her 67th year. Beloved wife of Skip Pennell, dearest devoted mother of Tyler Pennell of Toronto. Beloved sister to Mary Engler of Calgary and Richard Kessel of Brantford. Stepmother to Tammie Mason and Shannon Pennell, Step Grandmother to Jack and Taylor Mason and Amanda Pennell, and predeceased by her parents, Mikolaj of Belarus and Jadwiga from Poland, and survived by her Stepmother, Helena Kisiel.

Babs was a lifelong traveller, spreading her joy and love across the world. From the beaches in Thailand to the shores of Australia, the deeps of the artic, to the many family road trips across North America, she brought love to every destination she arrived at.

Babs believed strongly in education, having attended Carleton, York, StFX, University of Alberta, Mohawk College, and many more. Her wisdom helped provide so much to her friends, family, and the community.

Babs was a registered nurse for over 40 years, serving in Northern Ontario, Yukon, and many communities locally. Babs served as the medical officer on the CCGS Sir William Alexander and the CSS Hudson, where she met the love of her life. Babs retired from the CCAC in 2016 after serving the community for 14 years in Brantford as a Care Coordinator.

As a wife, Babs was a person who provided endearing love, support, passion and attention to her husband for 36 beautiful years.

As a mother, she was a living guardian angel that took care of her son every minute of every day, to her last breath. She was the ultimate example of what a loving mother is.

Special thank you to her sister Mary for the valued support and her countless hours being there for her during her life. Thank you to her husband, who in the hardest of times, was there, every minute to make sure she was living her best life.

Special thanks to Lucy and Leanne for being her special and long endeared friends. To her best friends for over 50 years, Carla, Ruth, June, and Deb for providing her a beatiful friendship. Thanks to her loving friend group the “V8” for bringing her so much joy. Thank you to her kind and loving Neighbors, Ross and Phyliss. To the Pigeon family for their friendship. To her Step mother Helena Kisiel for being in her life. Thank you to so many others that touched her life and filling it with happiness.

A loving celebration of life for friends and family will take place at the Charing Cross Reception Suites adjacent to the TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford, on Saturday, November 16th, from 10:30-1:30. Memories will be shared from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.
