HUNKS, Karen Lynne - With extreme sorrow, Karen’s family announces her peaceful passing at the Stedman Community Hospice in her 58th year, surrounded by her cherished family on Tuesday August 13, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved daughter of Bob (2011) and Gert. Loving sister of Philip (Janice) of Stoney Creek, Patti (Greg) Teasdall, Linda (Darin), Janice, Bob (Jacklyn) of Brantford, Mary Adams of Ajax and Dr. Bill (Yuqi) of Powell, Ohio. Karen adored her eighteen nieces, nephews and her great niece. Karen often had special treats for them. She enjoyed taking cruises and trips abroad but, for the most part, led a tranquil home life style. She spent many happy hours baking and preserving chili sauce, pickles, jam and hand-picked strawberries. She was an avid card player and always ready for a fun, yet competitive game of euchre. Karen was a dedicated and loyal post office manager at Shoppers on Fairview Drive for many years. The family would like to thank the LHIN / Outreach team at the Brantford General Hospital and the Stedman Community Hospice, the Bayshore nurses (especially Eva and Mark), the Juravinski Cancer Centre and Dr.Cicoria for their compassionate care. Many thanks to Karen’s siblings, Aunt Wilma, Aunt Jean and Karen’s long-time friend and travel companion Louise for their strong support. Friends will be received at the TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford, on Sunday, August 18, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. with Parish Prayers at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church, 9 Waverly Street on Monday at 2:00 pm. Interment at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
