Obituary for John Alexander Allan

April 6, 1935 – July 25, 2019
It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of John at the Brantford General Hospital, after struggling with pulmonary fibrosis, in his 85th year. Son of the late Andrew and Eva Allan. Beloved husband of 49 years to Jessie (Ronson). Survived by his chosen family Diana Daniels (Jim), Dan Ronson (Karen), Gerry Phillips (Larry) and Barb Dix (Gary). Proud Papa of 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Also survived by his brother Don Allan, brother Richard “Dick” Allan (Sandra), sister-in-law Marion Allan, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother Andy Allan, sister Marg Tolhurst, sister-in-law Midge Allan, and great-granddaughter Sophia McCann. John worked at Arn Blacks for many years, followed by several years at Screen Print. John enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family. The family will receive friends at the TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford on Sunday, July 28, 2019 from 7-9 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. in the chapel. Interment Farringdon Burial Ground. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or The Children’s Foundation.

The family of the late John Alexander Allan would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation for the phone calls, cards, e-mails, flowers, charitable donations, prayers, condolences, and the wonderful love and support that we received. Thank you to all who were able to attend the visitation and funeral. Special thanks to the pallbearers Jim, Scott, Brad, Gregory, Stephen and Charlie, and to the honourary pallbearers, John’s surviving brothers, Don and Dick Allan. Thank you also to Alison, Gerry and Barb for the scripture reading and loving tribute to Papa John. Thank you Scott Millward for the beautiful music and to Pastor David Ralph of Brant Community Church for the heartfelt message and personal touch to honour John’s life. Thank you also to nurse Lynn, Lori and Lori Ann, BGH Emergency Dept, and Suzanne of C5 for your compassionate care and kindness in John’s final hours. John’s wife Jessie would like to thank her beautiful family for all the love, care and help shown to her. Sincere thanks to the Toll Funeral Home for their help and guidance at this difficult time.
