Obituary

After a brief illness, Harry, loving husband of Jean for 69 years, passed away peacefully in his 91st year. Devoted father to his children, the late Steven (the late Marta), David (Sheila) and Susan Anderson (Cal). Grandfather to Jennifer Neamtu (Lee), Christine (Tim), Kevin (Courtney), Iain Anderson, Lindsey Maiorana (Mike), Courtney Anderson (Dwayne), Dylan Lee (Katie), Kayte Lee and Gavin Lee. Harry also doted on his 15 Great Grandchildren. He is survived by his sister in England, Margaret Griffiths (Paul), and many extended family members in both England and Canada. Harry served his country from 1947-1949 in the Royal Navy, achieving the rank of Able Seaman with excellent reviews on his service record. Harry was a passionate sportsman from a very young age and played Rugby League in Yorkshire, England at the highest level. He epitomized true Yorkshire grit and determination right to the end. His passion later in life was golf, spending many hours at the Paris and Burford Golf clubs organizing leagues and playing as much as possible. Harry enjoyed tending his large garden and was especially proud of his beautiful Lilies. After immigrating to Canada in 1964, Harry started his career as Tool Room and Maintenance Foreman at Stelco Fastener Works in Brantford from which he retired 28 years later. He was a firm but fair boss, loved by some, feared by others, respected by all. Harry will be sadly missed by his wife who was the love of his life and family of whom he thought the world. There will be a Celebration of Harry’s Life held on Saturday,July 6, 2-4 pm at the Charing Cross Reception Suites adjacent to the TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street. Brantford.
