Obituary for Lawrence Douglas "Larry" Hotte

It is with overwhelming sadness that we share the loss of our dear husband, dad and papa. Larry passed away unexpectedly at the Hamilton General Hospital surrounded by the love of his family on Thursday, March 21, 2019. Cherished husband and best friend of Cheryl (nee McLeod) for 50 years. Adored father to Sarah (Jake), Jonathan (Tiffany), Jenny (Matt) and Caleb (Keshia). Adored grandfather of Marcelle, Simon, Kendall, Parker, Savannah, Arlo and Nia. Much loved brother of Robert (Mary) and Philip (Della). Larry will also be missed by his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and treasured friends. He was predeceased by his parents Gerard and Roberta Hotte.
Larry was a genuinely loving soul who lived life to the fullest and left us too soon. He loved and treasured his home, his family, his garden, sunsets on St Pete’s Beach and his many summers at our cottage on Lake Baptiste. He was a passionate and dedicated teacher and coach who left a lasting impact on those who crossed his path. His adventurous spirit, kind heart and love of life will be the memories that we cherish and hold close to our hearts as we move forward without him. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Central Presbyterian Church, 97 Wellington Street, Brantford at 2:00 p.m. The Celebration of Larry’s life will continue at the Brantford Golf and Country Club, 60 Ava Road, Brantford immediately following the service. Cremation has taken place and Larry will be laid to rest at Farringdon Burial Ground on Friday at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, we invite you to contribute towards the creation of an annual basketball sportsmanship award at Brantford Collegiate Institute in memory of Larry’s many years of coaching or a donation to the Mark Preece Family House in Hamilton which helped us through this most difficult time.
