It is with overwhelming sadness that we share the loss of our dear husband, dad and papa. Larry passed away unexpectedly at the Hamilton General Hospital surrounded by the love of his family on Thursday, March 21, 2019. Cherished husband and best friend of Cheryl (nee McLeod) for 50 years. Adored father to Sarah (Jake), Jonathan (Tiffany), Jenny (Matt) and Caleb (Keshia). Adored grandfather of Marcelle, Simon, Kendall, Parker, Savannah, Arlo and Nia. Much loved brother of Robert (Mary) and Philip (Della). Larry will also be missed by his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and treasured friends. He was predeceased by his parents Gerard and Roberta Hotte.
Larry was a genuinely loving soul who lived life to the fullest and left us too soon. He loved and treasured his home, his family, his garden, sunsets on St Pete’s Beach and his many summers at our cottage on Lake Baptiste. He was a passionate and dedicated teacher and coach who left a lasting impact on those who crossed his path. His adventurous spirit, kind heart and love of life will be the memories that we cherish and hold close to our hearts as we move forward without him. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Central Presbyterian Church, 97 Wellington Street, Brantford at 2:00 p.m. The Celebration of Larry’s life will continue at the Brantford Golf and Country Club, 60 Ava Road, Brantford immediately following the service. Cremation has taken place and Larry will be laid to rest at Farringdon Burial Ground on Friday at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, we invite you to contribute towards the creation of an annual basketball sportsmanship award at Brantford Collegiate Institute in memory of Larry’s many years of coaching or a donation to the Mark Preece Family House in Hamilton which helped us through this most difficult time.

We were so shocked and saddened to hear of Larry’s passing. Our girls, Kara and Kait were so lucky to have had him as a teacher and they remember that time and him, fondly. We have enjoyed meeting up socially over the years and were lucky to have spent time with you, Cheryl and him.
We are so so sorry for your loss. Larry will be missed.

Cheryl and family, I'm so very sorry for the unexpected loss of Larry. I remember him as a positive Dad when cheering on the BCI boys basketball team as well as The Briers team when Jonathan played with my son Derek. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I know he will be missed by everyone who knew him.

I really want Mr.Hottes family to know that he was the most amazing teacher that ever graced this earth. And after not seeing him for a number of years, he started coming to metro where I work. And he remembered every naughty thing I did and how he always knew I was going to be a great person. I saw him everyday at work and he relived so many memories with me. He was such a gifted person. His heart was bigger then reality. He never gave up on me. And he is greatly missed by me and I’m sure of most of brier park school as well. What an amazing soul, you will be so missed by everyone in metro especially me. My heart my prayers my love goes out to his family at this horrible time. He was one of a kind. Rest in paradise you beautiful soul, thank you for all you did.

When I started at BCI 15 years ago, Larry was one of the first, outside of my own department, who welcomed me and made me part of the BCI family. He will be greatly missed by staff and students who had the pleasure to know him.
