Obituary for James Joseph Miklos

Passed away peacefully March 10th, 2019 surrounded by his loving family at the Stedman Community Hospice in his 97th year. Beloved husband of Margaret for 72 years. Loving father of Bob (Jeannie), Maureen (John Hodges), Jim Jr. (Mary), Gerry (Sherri), Carole, Tom (Brenda) and Peter. Proud Papa of Chaundra, Ryan, Laura, Tori, Jessa, Kat, Annie, A.J., and Carly. Great Papa of 14 cherished great grandchildren. Fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews. Born in Hungary in 1922. Arrived in Canada at the age of 4 and settled in New Waterford, Nova Scotia and later moved to Brantford, Ontario with his family. Predeceased by his parents, Alex and Elizabeth and sisters, Betty Boutlier and Mary Miklos. Jim was an active and one of the oldest members of St. Pius X Church. He was a proud member of the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion, serving in France, Holland, Belgium and Germany and was the proud recipient of the French Legion of Honour Medal. Jim was a tool and die maker by trade. He later became a professional photographer. He was an avid skier and golfer. His other passion was wood working. Jim and Marg attended many airborne reunions from coast to coast over the years, including one to Europe. They enjoyed travelling. Driving to Alaska for two months was the most memorable. Their mode of travel for the past six years was canopy covered scooters to get around town. Family and friends can pay their respects at the TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross St, Brantford on Wednesday, March 13th 2019 from 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place the following morning at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, 9 Waverly Street, at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Church Hall. Cremation and interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Stedman Community Hospice or Community Living of Brant would be gratefully appreciated.
