Obituary for Joyce Mary Hunter

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Joyce Hunter at the Brantford General Hospital on Monday, February 25, 2019 in her 91st year. Loving wife to the late William “Bill” Hunter, mom to Brian (Julia), Rick (Tish), Kathy (Ken), Kim (Brad), grandmother to Dan, Ben (Nikki), Alex, Sarah, and great-grandmother to Liam and Madeleine. Joyce was a lifelong resident of Brantford and worked at Eaton’s Department Store in Brantford. It was there that she met Bill in 1946 soon after his return to work at Eaton’s from overseas service with the RCAF in Europe during WW2. They went on to build their life and family together in Brantford on Arthur St., and in Oakville on Pearson Drive where they made many lifelong friends as well as the White Oaks Condominium before returning to Brantford in 1992 on Blackfriar Lane with Kathy, Ken and the boys. Joyce and Bill enjoyed their many summers with their friends at Lawson Park in Flamborough. Joyce was also a member of the IODE Oakville chapter. A private family celebration of Joyce’s life will be held this spring and her ashes will be laid to rest alongside Bill. Thank you to the staff of Brantford General Hospital for their kindness and care during these last several months. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, Parkinson Canada, Brantford General Hospital through The Brant Community Healthcare System Foundation, or any charity of your choice would be very welcome.
