Obituary for Leo Maximilian Neziol

Passed away peacefully at the Brantford General Hospital on Saturday, February 2, 2019 in his 94th year. Beloved husband to Stella (Baran) for over 69 years. Father to Nancy (Phil McColeman), Gerry (Victoria), Paul (Tracey), Bernard (Kim) and Peter (Elsa). Loved Dziadziu to Sarah McIntosh (Dean), Jessica Moran (Aaron), Lauren David (Jeff), Jordan McColeman, Danielle Neziol (Kyle McKenna), Melissa Whelan (Chris), Madeline Neziol (Chris Haesler), Darren Neziol (Taylor Ferguson), Alex, Devon, Christian and Marcos Neziol and Courtney Wig and Lindsay Wig-Anastasiadis (Spiros) and great grandfather to seven. Leo is predeceased by his siblings Henry (Eleanor), Louise Nowakowski (Chester), Mildred Pikula (Joe), Felicia, Adam, Julius (Marguerite) and Reg. Survived by sister-in-laws Florence Niziol and Georgette Neziol. Leo was a WWII vet and was stationed in New Orleans awaiting deployment to the Pacific when the war ended. He had a long career in the insurance industry owning his own brokerage. Leo and Stella worked hard and the business grew to eventually employ all five of their children over four branch offices between Brantford and Mississauga. Leo was an active member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church as both a lector and choir member. He was an honorary member of Knights of Columbus and a member of the Polish Mutual Benefit and Friendly Society. Leo was a happy and gentle man who loved to dance and sing and over the past few years there wasn’t one family gathering that did not include a rendition of the traditional Polish song “Stolat”. Family and friends will be received at the TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross St., Brantford on Tuesday, February 5th from 2:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m with Parish prayers at 4:00 p.m. Mass of a Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m on Wednesday, February 6th at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 235 Brant Ave., Brantford. Interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
