It is with infinite sadness and the heaviest of hearts that the family of Charles (Charlie) McCabe announce his passing at the Brantford General Hospital in the Palliative Care Unit. Charlie passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, after a lengthy and courageous battle with prostate cancer. Although he was born August 3, 1944 in Southshields, England, he was a true Scotsman at heart. He grew up and married in Hamilton, Scotland before immigrating to Canada in March of 1974. He was a proud, passionate, loyal and stubborn man with a great love of soccer, gardening, but most of all, his family; his beloved wife of 53 years Mary (May) and his three children Pauline, Karen (Scott) and Jason (Amy). However, nothing brought him more joy than being the Papa and bestfriend of his grandchildren, Kimberly Barlow, Nicole Thompson (Kyle), Emily Barlow, Luke McCabe and Quinn McCabe. Great Papa to Allie and Claire Thompson. Charles is predeceased by his parents Peggy and Big Charlie and survived by his two brothers Mick and Bill McCabe. As per his request, cremation has taken place and a memorial reception will take place on Sunday February 3, 2019 from 11a.m.-1 p.m. at the Charing Cross Reception Suites adjacent to the TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford. Special thanks to his palliative homecare team and the palliative care unit staff at BGH. If wished, memorial contributions may be made to the Brantford General Hospital- Palliative Care Unit.
