Obituary for Kenneth "Ken" Flaherty

A life long resident of Brantford, Ken peacefully passed away January 4th rejoining his beloved wife of 67 years, Nellie Unik (Aug2018) at the age of 88. He will be sorely missed by his children, Dennis (Barb), Cheryl Rock (David), Ron (Donna) and Gary (Lori). Ken is survived by his three grandchildren Kris, Sarah and Scott and four great-grandchildren Kaeden, Rhyse, Lucas and Jordyn and as well as many nieces and nephews. Grieving his loss are his sister Colleen Medved (Fred), Brantford, his sister in law Anne Gowryluk, brother in law Lawrence (Doreen) Unik, Myrna Unik, Nellie Unik, all of Selkirk, MB, and sister in law Heather Unik, of Calgary AB. Predeceased by his mother and father, Lillian (Money) and Clarence, his sister Tiny (Lillian), sister Marjorie Stillwell, brother Bob and many relatives near and far. Ken was a proud employee of Gates Canada where he worked most of his life until his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and western movies. Ken will be remembered as a proud father and for having an amazing ability to figure out technical problems and their solutions. Ken and Nel also enjoyed many day trips to Port Dover, family visits to Manitoba, numerous trips by motor-coach, music and nature. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Hadley and the St. Joseph’s Lifecare Team for their compassionate and dedicated care, also to friends and family who enriched both Ken and Nel’s lives. Memorial donations greatly appreciated to St. Joseph’s Lifecare. Cremation and a private family interment has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to TOLL FUNERAL HOME.
