Surrounded by the love of his family, Ken Porteous passed away at the Brantford General Hospital on Wednesday January 2, 2019. Beloved husband of Jean (nee Kersey) for 51 wonderful years. Adored father of Heather Shaw, and Lisa and her husband Paul Stephens. A most wonderful Papa to Brandon (Mariah), Emily (Matt), Ava, Emery, Macy and great grandfather to Gunner. Ken was the son of the late Ted and Helen Porteous and a cherished big brother to eleven siblings. The late Bill (Jan), Bob (Donna), the late Ann (Tom Hanson), Lynn (Brian Morden), Kathy Cooper, Susan (Paul Eacrett), Wendy (John Theis), Jim (Jill), Nancy (Brad Horning), Holly Elliott (Steve Schmitt), Ruth (John Esposito). He was much loved by many nieces and nephews and other extended family members and friends. Ken enjoyed 32 years of service on the Brantford Fire Department, ending his career as a Platoon Chief. His fellow firefighters were a second family to him. Ken was an avid golfer. He loved his weekly bowling league and card games, his daily walks along the Grand River and spending time with his family and friends. Friends will be received at the TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, on Sunday January 6, 2019 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Service in the chapel on Monday January 7, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. Cremation to follow.
