Grandma Today you are in heaven You hear the angels sing God took you away from us And gave you a new set of wings We shall miss you dearly But, only a few tears we shall weep For God has welcomed you to his table And saved you the very best seat You’re surrounded by love and joy And all your pain has gone away I find comfort in knowing That I’ll see you again one day Until we get to meet again One promise I will make I’ll save you one of my kisses If you’ll save me a warm embrace Granddaughter Nikki - Edmonton

Grandma loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly and she was so excited when I told her she could expect another great grandchild. I visited her in the hospital a couple weeks ago and told her to get lots of water and rest. She squeezed my hand and told me to get lots of rest as well... always more concerned about others’ wellbeing above her own. I’m sorry to have missed saying goodbye at her funeral today, but I know, with baby being almost a week overdue, she would understand and be happy to know I’m resting at home. We are recounting her memories and the many memories she recounted to us while making her traditional (almost) New Years oliebollen. We will always love you and remember you, Grandma. xo Erica Leendertse

Greetings to all of you from beautiful Yellowknife in the heart of the Northwest Territories. As you gather today to celebrate and remember a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, may you receive the piece in knowing that she has now received her reward and is safe in the arms of Jesus. We so very much wanted to be with you but the constraints of distance did not afford that opportunity. None-the-less, in our absence, we wanted to share a few thoughts with you. Throughout the years, Grandma Leendertse has always been steadfast in her love for her family, friends, her church, and most importantly, her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. This has been evident in the way she lived her life and the example that she has shown to so many. We haven’t had the pleasure of knowing Grandma Leendertse as long as many others in your presence there today, but she treated us like her own and we can say with certainty that she loved us! Friends, as we grieve the loss of Grandma Leendertse, we are reminded of the words of Paul in his second letter to the Corinthians which says, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). We trust that God will be your comfort in the days, weeks, and months ahead as you remember the good times that were shared. We remember the last time that we visited with Grandma Leendertse at her home, just before we left on our journey north. We could see the excitement her body language and speech regarding our trip and the work that we would be doing here. It once again, it affirmed her love for the Lord. What an amazing example she was! Qualities that will remain with us as we journey this life. Please know that we will be praying for you as you grieve. We will always remember the life she lived, and the legacy that she has left behind. God bless you all this day, and always. Love Jason, Janice & Matthew Brinson
