Obituary for Katherine "Kay" Petersen

Peacefully in her 97th year, on Friday October 19, 2018 at the Brantford General Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Cherished wife of the late Albert Petersen (2012) for over 63 years. Dear mother of Wendy Nicholls (Alan), Paul Petersen (Debra), Mark Petersen (Barbara), Garth Petersen (Glenyce), Michele Gorsedin (Juan), Lee Petersen (Nancy), Lisa Lefler (Dale), Ellen Merson(Vance) and Patti Tuori (Vito). Precious memories are left with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Daughter of the late Hewitt and Alice Bridgeman. Predeceased by brothers Lloyd, Bill, Bobby, Bruce, Patrick and Jack Bridgeman and sisters Ella Wilson, Mary Mayo, Jean Coppens, Judy Barnes, Peggy Clark as well as brothers-in-law Fred Wilson, Rex Mayo, Martin Coppens, Harold Taylor, Bob Elliott, Ed Ross, Doug Day, Doug Barnes and sister-in-law Doris Bridgeman. Survived by her brother Michael Bridgeman (Joan), Guelph, and sisters Bernice Taylor, Simcoe, Helen Ross, Brantford, Frances Lapier (Herb), Kitchener, Sheila Day, Brantford, Joanne Elliott, Paris. Kay will be missed by many nephews and nieces from Al’s extended Petersen family. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. John Hadley, Dr. L Gregoire and Dr. B McNeil for their compassionate care. The family will receive friends at the TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 133 Murray Street, Brantford at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Mary’s Building Fund and the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
