Peacefully passed away Monday, April 10 at the Stedman Community Hospice. Andy was in his 92nd year. Andy was predeceased by his parents Angus and Jean Johnson and wife, of more than 64 years, Verna Mary (2011). Loving father of Jamie Johnson and Judi (Brian) Slaman. Andy was the dear grandfather of Thomas Johnson and Stephanie, Jaquie, Aimee, Carista, Michelle, Theo, Vanessa and Natalie Slaman, and great-grandfather to Andrew Gonclaves. Beloved brother to the late Angus (late Leila), Russell (Joan), Donald (Judy) and Barbara ( Bob) Copeland. Brother in law of Audrey (the late Frank) Elcomb. Uncle to many cherished nieces and nephews. Andy was a long serving employee of Massey-Ferguson, Verity Works. He was an avid sports fan, cheering for Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs. He played fastball, loved bowling and golf. He spent many days on the golf course with his good friend and nephew Jim (Laurie) Selmes. Andy was a life-long member of the Brantford Sundowners Camping Club. Andy was a proud and humble veteran of WWII. He served in the R.C.N.A. Merchant Marines. He was a life time member of the Brant Naval Veterans’ Association where he enjoyed playing cards and being with friends. Andy was also a member of the Dunsdon Legion 461. Family and friends will be received at the Charing Cross Reception Suites adjacent to the DENNIS TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford on Saturday April 15, 2017 from 1 - 4 p.m., with special memories shared at 3 p.m.. Cremation has taken place. Donations to a charity of your choice or Brant Naval Veterans’ Association, 54 Wadsworth St. Brantford would be warmly welcomed.
