Bohdan Robert "Bob"  Zawalsky
Passed away peacefully at Brierwood Gardens on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at the age of 81 years. Loving husband of Sylvia (nee Popiel) for 58 years. Cherished father of Diane (Steven) Smith, Patti (Peter) Smith and the late Rob (Kelly). Loving Dido of Jamie, Katie, Josh, Jake, Andrew and Joel. Dear brother of Mary (the late Walter) Stollar. Much loved brother-in-law of Helen (the late Andrew) Yarmey and Helen (the late Peter) Popiel. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. Bob was a long time employee of Bell Canada, retiring in 1991. He was a faithful member of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Brantford, St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Hamilton and most recently St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Brantford. Bob was heavily involved in the Villages and spent much of his time volunteering at St. Michael’s Church. Friends will be received at the DENNIS TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a Prayer Service to be conducted Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. by Pastor John Ogilvie. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Father Wasyl Makarenko officiating. Interment to follow at Oakhill Cemetery, Brantford. Donations in memory of Bob can be made to the Stedman Community Hospice or to the Alzheimer Society of Brant.
