Obituary for Boleslawa Jadwiga "Judy" Zurek (Kupczyk)

Boleslawa Jadwiga "Judy" Zurek (Kupczyk)
It is with deep devotion and sorrow that her husband and daughters announce the passing of Judy Zurek (nee Kupczyk) just after celebrating her 78th year. Beloved wife of Antoni and devoted mother of Rose, Anny and Barb. Judy was the cherished grandmother of Stephen, Chrissy and Celeste. Born in Poland to Boleslaw and Stanislawa Kupczyk, she leaves behind sisters Irena, Iwona, Urszula, Lucina (deceased) and brother Wlodzimierz and cousin Gina Thau, with their families. Judy worked at Sears for 17 years until she retired. She was a lifelong member of the Polish Albion Hall, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the CWL, and was well known for her displays during the International Villages and as president of The Reymont Scholarship Foundation. Judy received a Citizen Volunteer Award for 15 years of service to the community. Judy was the first client of the Diabetes clinic at Brantford General Hospital where she also went through her 23 year cancer journey. We are grateful to all those who extended care and compassion and shared in her incredible strength and courage in the face of extraordinary odds. Deep thanks to CCAC, Bayshore and Dr. Stephen Wells, the outreach team and the hospice angels at Stedman Hospice and all the caring medical staff and care workers that have made her transition graceful and dignified. The family will receive friends at the DENNIS TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford on Friday, October 17th, 2014 from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with Parish Prayers to be recited at 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 235 Brant Ave, Brantford on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery. A reception will then be held in the Polish Albion Hall. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Diabetes Foundation, Stedman Hospice or The Reymont Scholarship Foundation would be appreciated.
