Obituary for Elizabeth Marion "Betty" Renout (Nicholls)

Elizabeth Marion "Betty" Renout (Nicholls)

Our beloved mother Betty, age 84 passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 4, 2018. Cherished with love from her son Dale and his wife Pat, daughter Karen and her husband Robert Marcolini and Barb and her husband John Mitchell. Beloved grandmother to Kristi and her husband Mark Fehrling, Heather Renout, Emily, Adrian and Liam Marcolini, James and Allison Mitchell and great grandchildren Caleb and Logan Fehrling. She was an only child born in the city of Toronto to Rose and Carl Nicholls (August 23, 1933). After graduating from Moulton College, which she attended with her lifelong friend Marilyn Nelson, she continued her studies to become a teacher. She started her career in a one room school house in Omemee, Ontario. Later she acquired her post secondary degree from the University of Western Ontario. Passionate about supporting children with special needs, she spent most of her teaching career at Jane Laycock/Brantwood School. Brantford was her home for 45 years and Betty was an active member of the community where she attended Fairview United Church and volunteered in many organizations. She loved gardening and music, was a lifelong learner with a love of conversation and interest in people. Betty will be remembered as a positive force in all our lives. She inspires us to be caring, loving independent people who make a difference in the world around us.
