It is will great sadness that the family of Eleanor Jane Gecas (nee Hulley) announces her passing at the age of 86, on Friday February 23, 2018 at the John Noble Home.
Born September 7, 1931. Eleanor grew up in Paris Ontario, with her late parents Tom and Blue Hulley and her three siblings, the late Clayton Hulley, the late Joan Tokarz (Bob) and Eva(Ken) Boyd. Eleanor moved to Brantford after she married her beloved late husband Dennis “Zenonas” Gecas to whom she was married for 50 years. Eleanor had two sons Dennis and Tom (Kari-Anne Wills) Gecas and two grandchildren Mateya (Dakota Adams) Wills and Harley Gecas. Along with her loving nieces and nephews Kim (Chris) Stockdale, Sandy (Bonnie) Boyd, Lisa (Barney) Tokarz and Clayon (Joanne) Tokarz. Eleanor worked for Bell Canada from the age of 16 until 1970 as a telephone operator. She also dedicated herself to St. Basils Roman Catholic Church where she was a part of the Catholic Women's League. Eleanor was also passionate about knitting, and used her talents to knit for Mary Maxim's Fairy Godmother's group and donated many of her items to the local women shelters. Eleanor was a social person especially during her time at the John Noble Home where she was a part of many activities and on the Resident Family Council for 5 years. The family would like to especially thank the John Noble Home for their exceptional care and compassion. She was an incredible person who will live on in the hearts of those who had the honour of knowing her.
Family and friends will be received at the TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross St, Brantford on Friday, March 2, 2018 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Followed by Mass of Cristian Burial celebrated at St. Basil’s Roman Catholic Church, 50 Palace St, Brantford at 11:00 a.m. Eleanor will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery, reunited with her husband.
