Obituary for Eleanor A Smith

Peacefully surrounded by her family at the Stedman Community Hospice on Sunday, January 7, 2018 in her 81st year. Beloved wife of the late James Smith (2008). Proud mother of Larry (Dallas), Reg (Kim), Jan Whitehead, Steven (Lori), Heather Smith (Steve), Connie Smith and Tom (Cindy). Forever cherished grandma to her 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and their families. Also survived her sister Betty Hyndman (the late John), sister-in-law Pat VanSickle (the late Bob) and brother Don VanSickle (Barb). Eleanor will also be sadly missed by Ruth Nagy (John), Helen McDonald (Alex), Ray Campbell (Jean), Lori Smith (Bob) and many nieces, nephews and their families. She worked at Sears for many years, was actively involved with the Girl Guides of Canada, a member of the Women’s Probus Club of Brant and enjoyed family times, travelling, bridge and football. Special thank you to everyone at Stedman Community Hospice. Family and friends will be received at the TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A private family service will be held on Friday with interment to follow at Pleasant Hills Cemetery, Onondaga. A Celebration of Eleanor’s Life will be held at a later date. Donations to the Stedman Community Hospice or the charity of your choice appreciated.
