Obituary for Jack Donald "Don" Hawkins


It is with heavy hearts that the family announce the passing of Don at the Brantford General Hospital on Thursday, December 14, 2017 in his 93rd year. Beloved husband of the late Ida Hawkins (2005). Loving father of Brian (Valerie), Donna (Case) Coenjarts, Kevin (Karen), Jack (Darlene) and Greg (Kim). Proud grandfather of 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Don will be sadly missed by many extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his sister Joyce (Bill) Baker. Don was an amateur boxer for 10 years and then became head coach for the Amateur Wrestling Program at the YMCA in Guelph for 25 years. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces during the Second World War and enjoyed playing classical piano.
The family will receive friends for visitation at the DENNIS TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford on Sunday, December 17, 2017 from 1-4 p.m. with cremation to follow. A private family interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery, Guelph at a later date. Donations in memory of Don can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Brant.
