McGarrity, John “Ian” - surrounded by his loving family, Ian passed away peacefully at home on October 15, 2017 in his 74th year. Dearly beloved husband of Jeane for 53 years. Loving father of Angela (Tim) Harrington, Ian McGarrity Jr., and Sandra (David) Rees. Proud Grandpa of T.J., Julia, Maddi, Alyssa, Marcus and Connor. Born in Bellshill, Scotland and immigrated to Canada in October of 1966. He enjoyed a successful career in freight forwarding and retired as President of Beacon International. In 1998, he served as the President of the Brantford Club. He was a member of the Reba Lodge and St. Andrews Society. Friends will be received at the DENNIS TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Corss Street, Brantford on Saturday, October 21st, 2017 from 12 until 2 p.m. A service will follow in the funeral home chapel. Special thanks to Dr. Lee and the staff at the Brantford General Cancer Clinic and Dr. Singh, Lara, Tracey, Irena, Melanie and all the wonderful staff of Stedman Community Hospice who lovingly cared for Ian at home.
