Obituary for Elizabeth "Betty" Sweeney

SWEENEY, Elizabeth (Betty) It is with great sadness that the family of Elizabeth Sweeney (nee Coyle) announce her passing at the age of 83 after a brief but courageously fought illness. Predeceased by her husband John Sweeney (2009). She is lovingly remembered by her children Teresa (Jeff) Hinton, Brian (Kerry) Sweeney and Jennifer (Kevin) Slamen. Cherished grandmother of Stephanie and Melissa Hinton, and Leah, Eric, Alexander and Danielle Slamen. Beloved sister of Moira (Jim) Lombardo, Kathleen
Johnston, Anne Hetherington and William and Francis Coyle. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and has left to join her parents, sisters Margaret, Maria and Christine and brothers Andrew and Archibald in Heaven. Elizabeth was born in Paisley, Scotland and immigrated to Canada with John in 1957 where she went on to enjoy 60 wonderful years. She was a long-time resident of Mayfair in Brantford and was one of the original members of North Ridge Golf Course. In retirement Elizabeth spent many musical winters at Deer Creek in Florida with John and loved gardening, knitting and golfing. Friends are welcome to join the family for a funeral service to be held on Wednesday August 23rd 2017 at 12:00pm at the DENNIS TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford with the interment to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Paris.
