Obituary for Donald James Bloodsworth

Donald James Bloodsworth

Peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at Telfer Place, Paris, on Thursday, June 15, 2017, at the age of 83 years. Beloved husband of the late Barbara Anne (2012). Cherished father of Susan (Rich), Laurie (Bain), Kevin (Rhonda) and Paula (Dave). Devoted and loving grandfather of Lindsay, Liam, Lachlan, Aidan, Sara, Nicole and Rachel. He is survived by his sister Shirley (Harold “Peter”) Corson of Dundas, ON and was predeceased by his elder sister Lillian Sheasby. A highly respected man of his community Donald was very proud to be employed by Revenue Canada for 32 years, during which he served a number of terms as Chief of Appeals. He also loved spending time outside in his garden and walking his dogs. Donald played competitive bridge, spent time curling and loved theatre outings with his wife Barbara. Family was extremely important to Donald and through many years of determination and research, discovered that he was a direct descendant of the United Empire Loyalists, dating back to 1783.
The family would like to thank all staff at Telfer Place (who are considered their extended family), for their devotion and compassion in caring for Donald these past 5 years.
The family will receive friends at the DENNIS TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford on Monday, June 19, 2017 from 11:15 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 12 noon in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Donald can be made to the Stedman Community Hospice Brantford, as the care for Donald’s wife Barbara in her last days there was so appreciated. Alternatively, donations can be made to The Lighthouse Festival Theatre Corp. to allow others to enjoy the theatre as much as Donald and Barbara did.
