Obituary for
Matti Ruuska
RUUSKA, Matti – It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Matti Ruuska, 95 years young, on Friday April 7th 2017 at Suomi Koti, Toronto. Matti is now reunited with his beloved wife Kaisa Leena. Dear father of Seppo (Kay), Sirkka, and Tapio (Marilyn), beloved grandfather to Danny (Jenny), Jaisi (Margaret), Jason (Susan), Sarah (Leon), Laura (Zac), Rebecca (Dom); and great grandfather to 7 grandchildren. Matti was born in Finland to a family of 8 boys and 1 girl. He is survived by 3 brothers: Paavo, Martti and Pentti. His life journey took him from Aho Vastinki to the Russian Front to the logging camps and mines of Northern Ontario and to the fruit orchards of Niagara. Successful at most everything he attempted he was a wise, honest and humble man who embodied sisu, the inner strength of the Finn. He had the strongest hands but a tender heart and a twinkle in his eye. Family and friends will be received at the DENNIS TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross St. Brantford, on Tuesday April 11th 2017 from 7-9 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday from 10 a.m until the time of service in the chapel at 11 a.m. If desired, donations can be made to Suomi Koti Nursing Home , 795 Eglinton Ave E, Toronto, M4G 2L1. www.dennistoll.ca
