Obituary for Elizabeth "Betty" Kondor

Betty passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 1, 2017, in her 98th year at the Clarion Nursing Home, in Stoney Creek. Born in Hungary, she came to Canada as a child and moved to Welland. After finding and marrying her soulmate, Betty moved to Tillsonburg where she and Frank bought a tobacco farm. They eventually sold the farm and put down roots in Brantford, Ontario. Betty is predeceased by her beloved husband Frank, her brother Les (Ann) Martin, her sisters Mary (Elmer) Dudash, Helen (Mike) Sofranko and her parents John and Mary Marton. After Frank’s passing, Betty came to live in Stoney Creek. She will forever be missed by her nieces Lillian (Kerry) Somerville, Nancy Schaeffer (Jim Colley) and her cousin Liz (Wayne) Triano. She was an honorary grandmother to Trevor, Matthew, Katharine, Andrew, Stephanie and Greg and their families. Betty loved gardening, walking everywhere and cooking for family. An extraordinary lady with a big heart, Betty was always eager to help others and treated everyone she met with kindness. Her warmth and unconditional love will always be among our happiest memories of her. A very special thank you is extended to the staff at the Clarion Nursing Home for the care and compassion they provided to Betty, especially during her last few weeks. Friends and family will be received at the DENNIS TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford, Ontario on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 from 1:00 – 2:00 pm with service to follow in the chapel at 2:00 pm. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Clarion Nursing Home Family Council or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
