Condolence From: Larry and Debbie Murphy
Condolence: Bonnie and Family, We were so shocked and saddened to hear of Gord's passing. Although our paths did not cross often in recent years we were always pleased to meet up with you and Gord. He was such a gentleman, a joy to have a conversation with, and possessed of an infectious enthusiasm that transferred to us whenever we met. He will be missed by many. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

Condolence From: Gerrold Jackson
Condolence: Dear Bonnie and Family. There is a large hole in the lives of so many us today. Gord had such a big heart and such a great soul. He worked tirelessly for his family, his students, his colleagues, his friends, and his community. Oh, he loved his sports, too, and was a fine athlete and teammate. He leaves an enduring legacy of the finest qualities of a true humanitarian. God Bless. With deepest regrets, Gerrold and Tamara Jackson.

Condolence: I was saddened to hear of Gord's passing. He was a wonderful teacher and person. We worked together at Cedarland and again at Brier Park. He was my daughter's favorite teacher and really made a difference in her life. I never pass the log house in Troy without thinking of Gord and probably never will. I am so sorry for your loss. He loved his family so much and and happy that he got to be a grandpa. His light will always shine. CC

Condolence From: Dave Kelly
Condolence: Hello Osmond family. Sorry to hear of Gords passing. Gord and I worked together as teenagers at Saltfleet Township back in the mid 60s. Gord and I both bought denim jackets because that was the thing to have back then. Gord decided they looked to new so we tied them to the bumper of his small car and dragged them up and down stone covered roads to make them look old. Not good enough for him so we soaked them and did it again. When they dried they had the look he wanted. He visited me a few times at Copps Coliseum where I worked and he wanted to see the ice surface from the highest point so off to the catwalk we went. 90 feet above the ice surface during a hockey practice. He loved it. This is the Gord I will remember. He was just a regular guy. Sandi and I send our condolences. Dave

Condolence: Very privileged to have taught with Gord at Brier Park School. He was truly a gentle soul and a true gentleman in every way possible. My husband Bill and I have chatted sports in particular at many staff functions...we can still see the twinkle in his eye about his Detroit Red Wings! Education was very lucky to have dedicated teachers like Gord. Bill and I send our condolences to Bonnie and his family.

Condolence: Bonnie, Teri, Kevan and family, As a friend of Kevan's, he always spoke very highly of his parents and had wonderful stories to share of his dad. The pictures included in this memorial and personal messages from past students really speak to the kind of person Gord was and the vibrant life he lived. He is clearly very loved and will be dearly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Condolence From: Matthew MacKenzie
Condolence: My sincere condolences to all of Mr. Osmond's family. I was a student of his at Brier Park School and I have many fond memories of him as my teacher. I always enjoyed his stories, especially having to do with politics and current events. We always poked fun at each other, with him being a Red Wings fan and I, a Leaf fan. He helped me as a Grade 8 student and inspired me to succeed going into high school and beyond in life. For that, I am truly grateful. I am keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Condolence From: Bill & Julie Sutherland
Condolence: It was with great sadness that Julie and I heard of Gord's passing. He was one of the first people I met as I started my teaching career in Brantford. Sharing ideas and stories with Gord enriched my teaching experience, and smoothed the "bumps" in some difficult days. As a friend, I treasured time spent with him whether it was travelling together in a car going to evening courses, but better yet on the golf course, the ball field, the tennis court, or jogging through the streets of Paris. I always left his company feeling better about myself and the world. He was a true gentleman who touched all who knew him with his kindness and humour. He cared deeply about his students, and they respected and loved him in return. But most of all he loved his wife, Bonnie and his children, Teri and Kevan. They were the true centre of his life. Bonnie, Teri, and Kevan: Our hearts go out to you during this difficult period, but we hope that memories of happier times soon ease the pain you feel now.

Condolence From: RICK AND MERRY SWANSON
Condolence: Merry and I were filled with shock and dismay over the news of Gord's death. Once again, a good person leaves us far too early. Any time we had a chance to talk to Gord was a delight. He epitomized the gentleman that most of us stretch to emulate and greatly admire. We can only imagine the sad state of affairs through which Bonnie must navigate in the coming years. Take comfort in the knowledge that you are surrounded by friends and relatives on whom to lean. Once I was told by a minister friend that God gives us no more than we can handle. I hope this provides you with some strength.

Condolence From: Hilary Cunningham
Condolence: I am genuinely sorry to hear of Mr. Osmond's passing. He was a caring and inspiring teacher, whom I had the pleasure of having as my teacher for two years at Cedarland. I remember his kind voice and how he could make any story come alive as he read aloud to our class (which was a challenge with a group of pre-teens!). He shared his love of the outdoors and sports, by bringing in a tv to our classroom so we could watch the Winter Olympics, long before ‘technology’ in the classroom was the norm. I am sure that he positively touched the lives of all the students who had the privilege of being in his class.

Condolence From: Sultan Rana
Condolence: Mr. Osmond, This is a bit heavy to say goodbye to you. I think about you often, but haven't reached out since the 1990's to see you or see how you were dong. Interestingly enough, you have lived with me everyday of my life since 1996 when you taught me because I emulate your penmanship as my own lol. Yes, I copied your cursive writing to a T, and have kept using it because I was enamoured with it. As an educator, I followed in your steps in making my teachable Geography, and have always encouraged my students to be inquiry based learners, the way you encouraged us to do so when you did the Marooned unit with us (before Survivor ever came on TV). I will miss and love being in your class, but you are a major reason I am the man and educator I am today. Thank you for taking me in on "Take your kids to work" day when i was in Grade 9. It may have been the one item to set me in the right direction to one day become an educator. I will never forget the day you took me out in the hall to discuss my careers project, and told me, "Don't be a teacher Sultan, you can do better" - lol. A true sense of the political climate of the time. I love you for the honesty, but I ignored you and happy I did, because I followed in your foot steps, and I love my career (as a teacher), as I am sure you did when you said goodbye to it years ago when you retired. Much love, and I'm so sorry I never got the chance to say hello and goodbye appropriately for the past 20 years. I always thought of you when I heard of the Redwings, and always will. Rest in heaven, sir.
