Obituary for William David "Bill" Little

After a lengthy illness he passed away at the Brantford General Hospital on Thursday January 26, 2017 at the age of 82. Best friend and devoted husband for 58 years to Jessie (Jaie Bowes). Cherished father of the late David (2011) and his wife Joanne and Paul (Sandy). Predeceased by loving parents Murt (1978) and Olive (1994) and daughter-in-law Jodey (2016). Loving brother to Ted (1976), Donald (1998), Doug (Linda), Jim (Maureen), and Shirley Whayman (Jerry, 2015). Loving grandfather to Leichelle, Cameron, Caleb (2017), Taelor and Darren. Bill will be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and furry friends (Tito and Fluffy). Bill was a dedicated employee of Harding Carpets for over 25 years. He was also a very active community volunteer for a large portion of his life. His dedicated passion was baseball as he was involved with Brantford Minor Baseball for over 30 years. He received his 25 year jacket for his outstanding contributions to the organization and in addition he won the Ted Lawlor award. Bill is a lifetime honour roll member. He was installed as a member of the Brantford and Area Sports Hall of Recognition (2005). George Baker and Bill helped set up the Brantford Minor Sports Association (later the Sports Council in 1968). Bill was on the executive of the CKPC Junior Braves for 10 plus years. He was a trainer for the Brantford Junior Hockey team in the early 1970's. Bill even ran for City Council in the early 1970's. His other passion was the Brantford Shriners, Brant Lodge #45, A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite 32˚, ROJ London Court #56. Bill was past President of The Brantford Shriners Club and a Lifetime member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch #90. Bill loved to travel to Port Huron, Michigan to spend time with his friends the Skotchers and other friends to watch different sports (Buffalo Bison's Triple A Baseball, Detroit Lions Football, Buffalo Sabres Hockey, Toronto Blue Jays and Detroit Tigers Baseball). Family and friends will be received at the DENNIS TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford on Tuesday January 31, 2017 from 6-9 pm and Wednesday February 1, 2017 from 10am-11am, with service to follow in the chapel. Funeral service will be officiated by Rev. Doug Pizzey, St. John's Anglican Church. Interment to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday evening at 6.30 p.m. under the auspices of Brant Lodge # 45, A.F. & A.M. The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses and support staff for their excellent care (Brantford General Hospital, St. Joseph's Hospital (Hamilton), and Hamilton General).
