Obituary for Genevieve "Jenny" Malecki

MALECKI, Genevieve - surrounded by the love of her family, Genevieve (Jenny) Malecki, a very special and wonderful woman passed away on September 19, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Lifecare Centre. Jenny was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She has now been reunited with the love of her life Ben Malecki who predeceased her on May 2, 2016. Jenny is survived by her children Mike and Rosanne and Steve and Julie. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Courtney and Kevin Barnes, Tyler, Barbara and Bradley who brought much joy into her life. Jenny was born on August 24, 1936 in Peel County, Toronto to Joseph and Mary Kopacka. She was blessed with and is survived by her sister Jo-Ann McCabe (Kopacka). After being raised in Kirkland Lake, Jenny moved to Brantford where she became a registered nurse and worked at the Brantford General Hospital. This is where she met, fell in love with and married Ben in 1958. Jenny was a practising nurse, teaching nurse and years later a public health nurse. Jenny also worked hand in hand with Ben and her mother Mary to build and operate the Ben-Mar Family Fun Centre. Jenny’s Visitation will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday September 22, 2016 at Dennis Toll Funeral Home, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 235 Brant Ave, Brantford on Friday September 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Internment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Joseph’s Lifecare Centre or the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.
