O’HARA, Katherine Mary – Died peacefully in her home Thursday July 21st, 2016. Beloved mother of Alanna (Andrew) and Devin (Jaimi). Kate was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Joan O’Hara, and was the eldest of six children. Kate was a devoted teacher at Pauline Johnson Secondary School where she taught English, Art, and Drama for decades. Kate enjoyed, among other things, exploring and educating her students on Native Art and Culture. For years, Kate was active with the Drama club at P.J., directing plays and musicals. She could often be found spending time outdoors in her garden with her pets, or kayaking on the Grand River. A memorial service will be held at Balfour Street United Church, 62 Balfour Street, Brantford on Wednesday July 27, 2016 at 11am with visitation 1 hour prior. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to: Alzheimer Society of Canada or Martin Aboriginal Education Initiative.
